What Are Some of the Best Camping Foods?

Thinking about going on a camping adventure and want to make sure you have plenty of tasty food available to enjoy with your loved ones?

It’s important to have enough food for everyone to have multiple meals throughout the several days that you will spend camping outdoors.

Therefore, you should make sure to stock up on some of the essentials and bring them with you.

There are certain camping foods that are perfect to bring along with you because they taste good and are easy to prepare over the campfire.

Potatoes

Different types of potatoes are perfect to bring with you on a camping adventure.

You can use red potatoes, Yukon gold potatoes, or even traditional russet potatoes.

Simply choose the ones you like most and then bring a large bag or two of them with you because you can do a whole lot of things with them.

Potatoes are commonly used in foil packs with vegetables that you can cook in foil over the campfire to create some tasty meals.

Aside from adding the potatoes to the foil packs and placing them over the campfire, you can make your own baked potatoes with all the toppings, such as chilli, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chunks of bacon.

You can even shred the potatoes down to turn them into shredded hash browns that taste delicious with some eggs on the side.

Assorted Vegetables

You can cook a lot of different vegetables over the campfire.

Some of the best vegetables to prepare while camping includes corn on the cob, sliced carrots, green peppers, and even zucchini.

You can slice them up, place them in foil with your potatoes, and hold them over the campfire until they are cooked to perfection.

There is something so refreshing about eating fresh vegetables that have been cooked outdoors over the campfire.

Polska Kielbasa

Not sure what kind of meat to make when you are camping outdoors? Bring a few packs of kielbasa (Polish sausage) with you and you cannot go wrong.

You can dice it up and add it to the foil packs with the vegetables and potatoes, serve it on the side with eggs for breakfast, or even have it on a roll with some of your favourite toppings, such as tomato sauce, onions, or even sauerkraut.

You might even want to melt some cheese on top of it for added flavour.

If you can’t find kielbasa, then chorizo, cabana, or pepperoni can be used. Anything that requires minimal preparation makes your job easier!

Grilled Sandwiches

If you bring a pie iron with you, it is possible to make all different types of grilled sandwiches.

You could make a traditional grilled cheese with a slice of tomato in the centre, grilled ham and swiss, or even grilled peanut butter and jam on bread.

Sandwiches that are cooked in the pie iron over the campfire have such great flavour because they are wholesome, crispy, and filling.

They are perfect to have for lunch, dinner, or even a snack.

All you need to do is remember to bring several loaves of bread, along with your choice of fillings such as cheese, lunchmeat or anything else you plan to use.

When you are going on a camping adventure, you need to remember to bring plenty of food with you to prepare for yourself and everyone else who is coming along with you on the trip.

Instead of relying solely on canned foods, there are a lot of delicious meals that you can make over the campfire.

Some of the best camping foods to bring with you include potatoes, mixed vegetables, kielbasa, and the ingredients to prepare different grilled sandwiches.

If you bring these foods with you, it will be easy for you to come up with different meals to make throughout your trip.
