7 Easy Camping Meals That Are Sure To Please!

There is nothing quite like enjoying a spot of camping in the great outdoors of the amazing country we call home. 

Whether you plan to take the family away for some fun in nature, are going to enjoy some quality time with your significant other or simply want to ‘go it alone’ for a few days, there is one necessity that you need to ensure you have covered; the menu! 

Indeed, all of that fresh air and energy sure knows how to work up an appetite and calls for a meal that is not only tasty but isn’t going to take you all evening to prepare! 

That is where we come in, we have prepared 7 great ideas for camping meals that are sure to keep everyone feeling satisfied and ready to get on with having fun.

‘Get Up And Go’ Breakfast Granola

Who doesn’t love granola? It’s one of those breakfasts that tends to please all ages and when made with the right ingredients can easily set you up for the day. 

Our Get Up And Go’ Granola only uses five ingredients and the heavenly smell as it cooks is sure to get all those sleepyheads out of their sleeping bags! 

Here’s what you need:

3 cups of oats

1 cup of nuts (whatever you like, almonds, pecans, walnuts)

1/4 cup of oil (olive oil is preferred)

1/2 cup Maple Syrup

1 cup dried fruit

The Method:

Get your cast iron pan hot and then add your nuts and toss them around for a few seconds before adding the oats. 

Cook as slowly as you can until the nuts and oats start to turn a nice brown colour. 

Set the pan down somewhere off the heat and add everything else apart from the dried fruit. 

Once it’s all mixed nicely dish it out and sprinkle the dried fruit over the top. You can even mix some yoghurt through it to soften the texture.

Potato And Egg YumYum

A great meal for when everyone is ready for some ‘proper food’. Here’s what you need:

2 Potatoes diced

8 Eggs (lightly whisked)

1 Onion, chopped

2 Tablespoons of butter

Salt

Cracked black pepper

The Method:

Melt the butter, add the potatoes and onions and cook for around 20 minutes until they are nice and soft. 

Add the eggs and pop the lid on until everything is nicely done. If you really want to get everyone drooling, add some grated cheese on top.

Perfect Pizza

Pizza is sure to please the whole gang and is an easy fix when camping. Although you can put any toppings on these that you like, here’s what you need:

Thickly sliced bread

Butter

Tomato sauce

Salami (or other deli meats)

Shredded cheese

The Method:

Simply assemble the pizza ingredients on the bread as you would a pizza base and place over the campfire. 

Wait until it all gets nice and gooey before tucking in! 

If you prefer a crispier base, quickly toast the bread before loading the toppings on.

Sweet Potato Fries

A nutritious, yet very tasty meal that is super easy to prepare. Here’s what you need:

A few sweet potatoes

Oil

1 garlic clove, chopped

Salt

A few spices such as chilli powder, ranch dry mix or something else of your choice

The Method:

Cut the sweet potatoes lengthwise and mix in a bowl with all of the other ingredients. 

Next, lay them on a piece of foil in a sheet pan and place over your campfire. Flip them a few times and serve once nice and crispy. They make a great snack!

Meaty Casserole

If you know you have a big day planned, a wholesome casserole is sure to be the reward at the end of it. Here’s what you need:

Minced beef

Bacon

Canned beans of your choice

A can of sauce of your choice (bbq works well)

The Method:

Fry the bacon and then place aside while you cook the beef in a cast iron pot. 

Return the bacon along with all other ingredients and bring it to the boil before simmering it until everything smells heavenly.

Banana Chocolate Boats

Of course, meals are about more than savoury foods, we all need a little something sweet too! 

These Banana Chocolate Boats are ridiculously easy and tastes amazing. Here’s what you need:

Bananas

Chocolate

-Yes, that’s it!

The Method:

Slit the bananas lengthwise with the skin on and push several pieces of chocolate inside, closing up the banana again as much as you can. 

Place on the grill, chocolate side up and allow the chocolate to melt to a gooey and messy delight.

Orange Cakes

The kids will love making these. Here’s what you need:

Oranges

Cake mix

The Method:

Cut the tops from the oranges and scrape out flesh. Fill them with cake mix and wrap in foil. 

Place them over the campfire and let the heat work its magic. About 15 minutes later you should have a dessert to be proud of!

Camping is meant to be fun and easy, not stressful and tiring.
